Great North Museum: Hancock

Bones Exhibition

Displayed across all three rooms of the Great North Museum: Hancock’s first-floor gallery space, this was a showcase of the enormous collection of animal skeletons the organisation has in its collection. Many had never been on public display before.

We were delighted to have won the contract to design and build this family-friendly exhibition, shaping the layout, designing the logo, marketing materials and graphics, and providing build and installation of walls, props and interactives.

As well as the huge collection of animal bones, the exhibition featured a variety of interactive elements for families, including a ‘xylobone’, a ‘selfie wall’ where visitors could take their picture in front of assorted animal antlers, a kids’ dress up and a quiet learning zone area for school groups. Sheridan Design also constructed eight life-size whale rib bones which formed the walkway through which visitors would enter the room.
